IAR, Life

Kristin Sanderson is a dedicated fiduciary financial advisor based in Nashville, TN. She and her husband, Dan, work as a team with a virtual office to serve clients nationwide. Kristin was an only child, raised by older, frugal parents, and from an early age, learned thrifty habits and the value of saving money. At just 13, Kristin experienced profound loss with the passing of her father. She remembers recognizing the invaluable role the family financial advisor played in helping her widowed mother understand how to handle the financial assets her father left behind and lay a plan in place to continue living a comfortable life with no money stress.

Today Kristin wants to serve clients in that same way: help people build smart money habits to save and grow their wealth, and bring comfort to widows and grieving families by helping them understand and protect the assets left behind by loved ones.

Both Kristin and her husband, Dan, have been closely mentored by Roy Matlock Jr. since 2019 when they transitioned careers into the financial industry. Kristin and Dan first met at Walt Disney World performing in Magic Kingdom parades (Kristin danced, Dan portrayed Prince Charming) and they later both became full time ballroom dance instructors in Nashville, which is serendipitously how they first connected with Roy—Kristin taught him ballroom dancing for 3 years! Roy in turn inspired them to take ownership of their lives and their incomes by studying and earning multiple licenses in financial services. They both still dance and teach part-time as independent ballroom dance instructors but gladly embraced a higher calling serving clients as financial advisors under Roy’s steadfast leadership. They are proud to be founding members of Roy Matlock, Jr. Advisory.

A rare Nashville native, Kristin attended Franklin Road Academy and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Journalism at University of Alabama. Kristin and Dan live in Brentwood, TN with their two cats and three chickens and in their spare time they enjoy camping and hiking in Tennessee’s picturesque state parks and checking iconic National Parks off their bucket list. They also enjoy serving Christ and their community as members of the Brentwood United Methodist Chancel Choir.
